Country Overview

The Ultimate Luxury Safari Experience!
Kenya is the definitive African safari destination because it offers the highest density of iconic wildlife and the most established luxury infrastructure. It is where the modern safari began. Our bespoke itineraries bypass standard tourist routes, offering an intimate connection to these legendary ecosystems through private, off-road access.

We prioritize exclusivity. While public parks face heavy traffic, our guests reside in private conservancies where the ratio of wildlife to vehicles is strictly managed. This ensures a quiet, profound encounter with the wild.

FAQ: Safaris in Kenya

When is the best time to see the Great Migration in Kenya?
The Great Migration typically arrives in Kenya’s Masai Mara from the Serengeti between late July and October. This is the optimal window to witness the dramatic river crossings. However, because we utilize private conservancies, we can position you away from the heavy tourist traffic to experience the herds in exclusivity.
National parks are public and restricted to marked roads with strict daylight hours. Private conservancies, which Only One Safaris heavily utilizes, are exclusive areas shared by a limited number of luxury camps. They offer a more intimate experience, allowing for off-road tracking, night game drives, and guided walking safaris without the crowds.
Absolutely. The “Bush and Beach” itinerary is one of our specialties. After your days on the savanna, we arrange seamless private bush flights directly to the pristine white sands of the Indian Ocean, such as Diani Beach or Lamu Island, for the ultimate post-safari relaxation.
Kenya is one of the best destinations in the world for encountering the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo). While the Masai Mara is renowned for its big cats, we also incorporate regions like Ol Pejeta Conservancy to ensure excellent, up-close sightings of the endangered rhino.
To maximize your time in the wild and avoid long, dusty drives, we arrange travel via light aircraft, known as “bush flights.” These fly directly into the private airstrips of your luxury camps, offering spectacular aerial views of the Kenyan terrain along the way.
Yes. A safari is a life-changing family experience. We design bespoke itineraries that cater specifically to families, selecting luxury camps that offer specialized family suites, flexible schedules, and dedicated “warrior school” activities led by local Maasai guides to keep children engaged and safe.
For a comprehensive experience, we recommend 7 to 10 days in the bush, dividing your time between two distinct ecosystems (such as the Masai Mara and Samburu or Laikipia). If you wish to add a beach extension, a total of 12 to 14 days provides a perfectly paced luxury journey.
Pack light, comfortable layers in neutral earth tones (khaki, green, and brown) to blend into the environment. Mornings and evenings in the bush can be remarkably cool, so a fleece or warm jacket is essential. Because you will be traveling on light aircraft, soft-sided duffel bags are required.
