Tanzania

Country Overview

Tanzania represents the ultimate safari archetype, home to the highest concentration of wildlife per square kilometer on the planet. From the endless plains of the Serengeti to the prehistoric depths of the Ngorongoro Crater, the country offers a scale of nature that is difficult to replicate. Our bespoke itineraries focus on maximizing your exposure to the Great Migration while ensuring your accommodation provides a sanctuary of luxury away from the primary tourist transit routes.

We emphasize geographical diversity. Tanzania allows for a rare combination of high-altitude trekking on Mount Kilimanjaro, world-class big cat tracking on the savanna, and a sophisticated retreat to the white-sand beaches of Zanzibar. This multi-layered environment ensures that every journey can be tailored to balance intense exploration with refined relaxation.

FAQ: Safaris in Tanzania

When is the best time to see the Great Migration in Tanzania?
The Great Migration is a year-round event, but its location changes. For the famous river crossings, you should visit the Northern Serengeti between July and October. For the calving season, target the Southern Serengeti in January or February. We design your itinerary based specifically on where the herds are predicted to be during your travel window.
Yes, this is a very popular combination. We recommend a minimum of seven days for a safe and successful Kilimanjaro climb, followed by four to five days on safari to allow for physical recovery. We manage all logistics, including gear transfers and private transportation between the mountain and the safari airstrips.
Tanzania is a stable and welcoming destination with a highly developed tourism infrastructure. We utilize private transfers, secure luxury lodges, and professional guides who prioritize your safety and comfort. Whether in the remote bush or the historic streets of Stone Town, you will be supported by our network of local experts.
The Northern Circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire) is famous for its high wildlife density and the Great Migration. The Southern Circuit (Selous, Ruaha) is much more remote and offers a wilder, more exclusive experience with fewer tourists. Many of our regular guests prefer the South for its sense of isolation and diverse walking safari options.
To avoid long, bumpy road transfers, we arrange travel via light aircraft bush flights. These flights connect the major national parks and coastal destinations, turning travel time into a scenic experience and ensuring you spend more time in the field than in a vehicle.
Tanzania is one of the world’s premier honeymoon destinations. We specialize in “Bush and Beach” itineraries that pair the excitement of the Serengeti with the romantic seclusion of private island villas in Zanzibar. Many luxury lodges offer specialized honeymoon suites with private plunge pools and starlit dining.
Yes, Tanzania offers some of the best Big Five viewing in Africa. The Ngorongoro Crater is particularly reliable for seeing lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino in a single day. The Serengeti is equally famous for its high predator density and massive elephant herds.
Pack light, breathable clothing in neutral earth tones. For the Ngorongoro Crater and Kilimanjaro regions, mornings and evenings can be quite cold, so a warm jacket and layers are essential. Because of the light aircraft flights, you must use soft-sided duffel bags for your luggage.
